Taisensuirō
Taisensuirō: Gatehouse with a stunning view

Taisensuirō is a gatehouse built by a wealthy merchant of Tomonoura named Ōsakaya. The second floor of this building contains a Japanese-style tatami room with a wonderful view of the islands of Bentenjima and Sensuijima. The scholar Rai Sanyō was once invited to stay at this building. Praising its view, he named the building Taisensuirō, which refers to the gatehouse’s location opposite Sensuijima Island.
